In the spirit of the 50th anniversary of Century 21, the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) invites you to explore the memories, memorabilia, and myths of Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair through a series of free community-wide workshops. Co-hosted by Seattle Public Library, King County Library System, and the Seattle Center Foundation, this series of workshops and seminars will teach you the skills needed to discover, document, and distribute the fascinating histories of one of Seattle’s most influential events. Celebrating Century 21 will explore Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair and considers its impact on the Seattle of today. The exhibit includes components from the Hagley Museum and Library’s exhibit Centuries of Progress: American World’s Fairs, 1853-1982, along with numerous artifacts, photographs and media documents from the 1962 World’s Fair selected from the collection of the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI). The exhibit is produced by HistoryLink.org in partnership with MOHAI, with support from Seattle Center Foundation.
Developed in partnership with Jack Straw Productions, MOHAI and HistoryLink, these free audio tours of the Seattle Center grounds will explore the history of the World’s Fair and will be available online and possibly via cell phone.

Seattle Public Library is hosting an online portal to their own and other digital collections of photos, ephemera and other materials from the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. Starting in fall 2011, this online website will link to other collections from the Museum of History & Industry, University of Washington, Puget Sound Regional Archives, and the City of Seattle Archives Office.
Denny International Middle School social studies students will participate in program to produce audio stories based on student research and oral histories in partnership with Jack Straw Productions, MOHAI and KBCS 91.3FM.

Jack Straw Productions, KUOW 94.9 FM, the Museum of History & Industry and Seattle Center Foundation are partnering to create four 5-7 minute radio documentaries on the social, cultural and historical aspects of the 1962 World’s Fair to be available online and heard on KUOW.
